HIALEAH, Fla. – A Hialeah homeowner told investigators that he was working and living out of the United States when fraudsters falsified his signature to defraud an insurance company, according to police.
Yaneiris Cepeda told investigators that Soraya Keber, a public adjuster, provided her with an unsigned contract, and the homeowner signed it, according to a police arrest report.
Investigators believe the insurance paid over $10,360 to Cepeda who then paid Keber, the owner of No Risk Claim Adjusters, about $1,865 — all while the homeowner didn’t receive any money.
Police officers arrested Keber, 58, and Cepeda, 46, on Wednesday, and accused them of attempting to defraud Nationwide Scottsdale Insurance Company of over $47,000.
Records show Keber and Cepeda each faced charges of ID fraud, grand theft, organized scheme to defraud, and insurance fraud. Their bond was set at $10,000.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Teresa Mary Pooler was presiding over their cases.
