NICB S/A assisted a member companywith a Staged Accident Investigation. The suspect in this case filed four (4) insurance claims with the member company during calendar year 2019. The fourth claim was deemed questionable by the member company as significant fraud indicators were detected. A review of recent past claims activity indicated alleged paper vehicle accidents, phantom vehicle involvement, staged/caused collisions, jump-in activity, and the presentation of forged medical bills by the suspect seeking reimbursement claiming that said bills had been paid out of pocket. The claimant reportedly used her minor children and spouse to further claim on the medical payment "Med-Pay" portion of the policy. On 01/30/2024, the individual accepted a plea agreement and plead guilty to one charge of Theft by Deception over $10K and was sentenced to; $10,000.00 restitution ordered to the member company, 2 yrs. Cook County Probation, 30 hrs. of Community Service, and Random Drug Testing.
