NICB S/A assisted Illinois law enforcement on a stolen vehicle investigation. A law enforcement officer’s Ram truck was allegedly taken by a rogue tow truck. The vehicle was tracked via the I-PASS last location. ISATT (Illinois Statewide Auto Theft Task Force) started going to the known businesses where they have previously recovered stolen vehicles. They located the Ram Truck at a scrap yard. After receiving permission to search they located a total of 13 stolen vehicles or parts. ISATT also seized for equipment being used by the scrap yard for asset forfeiture which included tow trucks, forklifts, and a vehicle crusher. As a result of this investigation, ISATT arrested and charged the manager of the scrap yard with three counts of Aggravated Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicles.
