An insured reported that while away from her residence, personal property within her apartment was damaged and stolen. Among the property she reported stolen was a TREK bicycle. The insured filed a claim against her insurance policy alleging damaged and stolen property. Among the items she reported stolen was the bicycle purchased on December 15, 2017. In support of this report, she allegedly submitted a sales receipt appearing to be from a local cycling and fitness store. It was reportedly determined the receipt was falsified. The woman was indicted and arrested on federal charges of mail fraud and found guilty.
