Alleged Road Rage Incident
An Illinois claimant became involved in an alleged road rage incident when his vehicle collided with the rear of another vehicle. The claimant reportedly not only pursued the other motorist, but allegedly produced a handgun, fired the weapon upon the other vehicle in traffic before fleeing the scene, refused to cooperate with the Police investigation, and subsequently fled to Florida with the offending vehicle. The claimant then filed an insurance claim with a member company the day after the incident citing a phantom hit and run. The IL Police became aware of the insurance claim filed by the claimant and contacted the member company. Upon request of the member company, NICB provided assistance to law enforcement. On 02/09/2022, the Claimant was charged with a three-count felony criminal complaint consisting of one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm – Direction of a person or an occupied vehicle (Class 1), and Two counts of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm (Class 4).
