Homicide Investigation

On 02/25/24, a Police Department in Illinois responded to a report of a man down. Officers discovered a male victim on the ground. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a nearby hospital where the victim was pronounced dead. The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force was assigned to investigate the homicide. Investigators were able to utilize information provided by NICB Special Agent to assist in securing a search warrant for the vehicle owner's cellphone records. Those cellphone records allowed them to determine the suspect phone was transported to the area where the homicide took place in the vehicle of interest. The cellphone records also helped corroborate information provided by a witness. The suspect was arrested on 03/04/24 and charged with one count of first-degree murder.
