Las Cruces and El Paso battle surging auto theft, residents demand action

KFOX14 has been noticing people on social media posting more frequently about their vehicles being stolen, in result, we reached out to both El Paso and Las Cruces Police about whether the borderland is seeing an increase in this specific crime.

After talking with both departments, KFOX14 learned there have been thousands of vehicles stolen across the borderland in the past few years.

We spoke to a man who is one of the victims. He hopes by sharing his story, he can raise awareness about a problem he says needs to come to an end.
