Policyholder Pleads Guilty to Insurance Fraud
A Texas man was operating an uninsured motor vehicle and was involved in a collision. In December 2019, the man purchased an auto insurance policy, and the next day he alleged that his vehicle, while unoccupied, was damaged by a hit-and-run vehicle.
The NICB Agent worked with local authorities and presented a case to the Texas Department of Insurance who handled the prosecution.
On November 19, 2020, the man pled guilty in criminal court to misdemeanor Insurance Fraud. He was sentenced to two years’ probation and must pay full restitution.
