Cobb County Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud, Forgery

Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, August 29, 2022

ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that Merilyn Enow, 35, of Marietta, has been charged with insurance fraud and forgery.

Between April 5th and December 1st of 2021, Ms. Enow initiated a wage loss claim to Travelers Insurance, which she supported with a wage loss document bearing the signature of her employer. Upon investigation, it was determined that the signature from her employer was forged. Other letters sent to Travelers detail her intention to receive up to $55,000 in payouts, including more than $23,000 for wages lost.

“Ms. Enow submitted a forged wage loss form and select payroll records to allege and misrepresent wages lost stemming from injuries related to a traffic accident,” said Commissioner King. “Given that she previously received $16,202.70 for injuries and vehicle damages related to this crash, it is clear that the wage loss claim was an attempt to inflate the original claim to receive a higher insurance payout.”

Arrest warrants were taken out for Ms. Enow in Cobb County on August 23rd and 24th.
