NICB Participates in San Diego Area Event to Help Deter Catalytic Converter Theft

On June 1, 2024, NICB assisted the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department with a weekend catalytic converter engraving event in El Cajon designed to curb catalytic converter theft in Southern California.  The event afforded Lakeside and Lemon Grove residents the opportunity to have their vehicle’s license plate number etched into the catalytic converter which would allow police to identify recovered stolen converters and make the units less attractive to thieves.  NICB Special Agent Mark Reyes, a member of “RATT”, the San Diego County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, participated in the event co-sponsored by San Diego Transmissions.
